REPUBLICAN PARTY HAS LOST ITS PRINCIPLES

The Mississippi Republican runoff election has undeniably affirmed the established Republican party is more concerned about retaining personal power rather than following its stated principles. They continue to give lip service to fiscally responsible limited government that follows the Constitution. They support legislation and politicians that are contrary to their own stated beliefs in order to retain their high level Washington, D.C. positions.

Mississippi senator, Thad Cochran, consistently voted to bring home the bacon to his state for four decades by acquiescing to big government programs. His primary opponent, Chris McDaniel, was a strong traditional conservative, Tea Party member who energized the base of the state’s party. The Republican Party did not stay neutral letting the people determine the direction of the primary. They banned together to support one of their own “club members.”

Mitch McConnell, the majority leader of the Republicans in the senate, stated he would stand up to Tea Party conservative’s insurgence. He did not respond to the Democrats labeling the Tea Party as “Tea Baggers”, terrorists and other negative terms since he was frightened that his position would be jeopardized by these principled members. With the support of other established leaders he raised $820,000 in one night for Cochran. Karl Rove’s, Club for Growth, contributed $3 million to Cochran.

The exposing of the party’s behind the scenes money involvement in the primary election fills in the dots unveiling a callous picture of using political power to maintain their own congressional positions.  Many of these Republican, Washington, D.C. government representative’s self-interest clearly outweighs their mission of serving the people. This completed picture of the self-interest of Republican officials makes sense of many strange incidents that have recently taken place in the Republican Party.  The unexpected reviving of John McCain’s dead candidacy for the nomination as president in 2008 becomes clearer. A moderate RINO (Republican in Name Only) would not respond forcefully to candidate Obama’s accusations so as not to create a backlash that may jeopardize individual Republican seats.

McCain’s campaign muzzled Sarah Palin who was greeted enthusiastically all over the country. She spoke forcefully about conservative ideals and issues, which gained traction with her constituents. However, she caused controversy in the media that caused fear among the entrenched Republicans who did not follow these conservative principles.

In 2012 presidential candidate, Mitt Romney, played it safe in his candidacy for presidency. His message was he was going to administer government more efficiently than the Obama administration without any defined changes in policy. He sold himself as a middle of the road candidate not as a conservative. When the Benghazi fiasco surfaced, he backed off the issue in the last debate instead of attacking Obama’s disastrous foreign policy. The Republican voters responded to this milk toast approach by 3 million voters staying home instead of voting for the “know nothing” party.

The Republican establishment party has turned out to be the “retention party of RINOS.” It has no essential message to put the USA back on track as a sovereign nation. It allows the Constitution to be violated on a regular basis. It allows the speaker of the house, John Boehner, to appease a stonewalling president rather than lead his fellow congressmen to uncover the truth about numerous scandals. Only after two years of increasing pressure did he finally appoint a select committee to maintain his leadership position.

The Republican Party’s establishment has lost its focus on fighting for conservative principles in running our government. By surrendering these ideals to maintain their own positions in government they are contributing to the destruction of our Constitutional Republic.

It is necessary for the survival of our nation that the status quo RINOS get out of the way to allow new blood to enter the debate. This essential open discussion would allow the American citizens to put us back on the right path. The USA has to return to the Constitution and fiscal responsibility to once again be the beacon of freedom to the world and a prosperous freedom-loving nation.
